Here is an all-around remedy in a tin that can be used as a beauty aid or healing remedy … wow!

It’s Lavender.

The benefits of Lavender are amazing.

  • It is a natural moisturizer and hydrator to restore loss of moisture
  • It also has antiseptic and disinfectant properties which help to heal minor burns, cuts, scrapes, dry cuticles, callous and various skin rashes such as eczema.

What makes this salve so great is the 90% shea butter that promotes deep healing and seals in moisture.   (Shea butter is a natural fat extracted from the seed of the African shea tree by crushing and boiling).

The combination of the light fragrance of rosemary, with a hint of Lavender, boosted with shea butter, makes this a ‘must have’ that can be used by the entire family.

If you won’t be visiting Maui and Alii Kula Lavender any time soon, this and other great products are available on their website here.

(4 Fathers & 4 Sons Concert on Saturday, June 19)

Fans of Hawaiian music, both contemporary and traditional, can celebrate Father’s Day weekend at Maui Arts & Cultural Center with four famous Hawaiian musical families:  George and Keoki Kahumoku, Dennis and David Kamakahi, Kevin and Ikaika Brown, and Richard and Kai Ho‘opi‘i.

On Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 7:30 pm in McCoy Studio Theater, the concert featuring 4 Fathers and 4 Sons will begin with each duo performing in their unique family style.  The program will include slack key guitar, ‘ukulele, vocal harmonies and falsetto melodies.  Round two of the performance will offer a lively competition between the four seasoned fathers and four exuberant sons as they vie for audience approval.

George Kahumoku, Keoki Kahumoku, Dennis Kamakahi and Richard Ho‘opi‘i are all Grammy Award winners in the Hawaiian Music category.  David Kamakahi won a Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Contemporary Album for his solo debut.  Kai Ho‘opi‘i has been joining his father onstage in Hawaiian musical performances around the state.  The Brown family represents three generations of slack key musicians perpetuating the art form of ki ho‘alu.  Each of these musical families will share the stories behind their songs, engaging the audience in a relaxed, kanikapila style evening.

Tickets to Hawaiian Musical Families: 4 Fathers & 4 Sons are available for $25 (plus applicable fees).  Enjoy pre-show dinner catered by Cafe O Lei at the amphitheater lawn from 5:30 pm; cocktails will be available in the McCoy Courtyard.  Call the MACC Box Office at (808) 242-SHOW (7469) or order tickets online at
